by Ray Banister
If you have been asked to a Mudgee wine tasting event don't worry if you don't know what to expect. This may be your first wine tasting vacation to the Mudgee wine region and you a likely wondering what comes next.

Make sure that you eat a good breakfast before you fo wine tasting. Make sure that your morning meal includes complex carbohydrates and fats. Including these will preserve your sugar levels.

Lip rouge should not be worn by the women when wine sampling. The taste of the wine can be determined by the oils in the lip rouge, in fact even the scent can make a big difference to the taste.

Another rule would be not to wear strong fragrances or scents, such as a strong scented cologne.

Even if there are wineries or vineries that let people sample their wine for free in Mudgee, most wine makers charge tasting fees that run from 5 bucks to 25 bucks per person. Some wineries even forego the fee with a wine purchase which can include a complimentary souvenir glass.

It would be a good idea to wear sensible walking shoes and not fashion shoes when visiting wineries. You will probably be doing a lot of walking and these wine makers are more like working farm so good shoes are a must.

Wearing sensible clothes just like sensible walking shoes is a must when you visit the vineyard, remember you are going into a working area and not a restaurant. You may be going to a restaurant after your wine sampling day then sure, bring a separate change of clothing. It might be a good idea to bring another set of clothing if you are going out for a meal right after the wine sampling day.

There are plenty of guides available to hire, this will help you savor the day even more. These tour guides are very experienced and know the vineyards and the vino inside out, this not only save you time but also money. Lets face it you are going to a winery to taste wine and the one thing you don't want to do is get caught driving under the influence so do your self a favour and hire a guide.
